Joel, known better online as SmallishBeans, is an English gaming YouTuber who is a member of the Afterlife SMP. He is popular for his Minecraft series, as well as his gameplay of other variety games.

Appearance[]

Joel's Blazeborn skin was made by Twitter user @DEVILART2199_. As a Blazeborn, Joel's Minecraft skin had an orange tunic with darker orange fabric around his waist and arms. His pants were the same darker orange, and his shoes were the same lighter orange as his tunic. His hairstreak was orange instead of the usual green.

As a giant, Joel wore his default Minecraft skin. Partway through this origin, he switched to his old Shrek skin.

As an Iceling, Joel wore his default Minecraft skin, with sunglasses, a backwards baseball cap, and a gold chain added on.

As a Wyverian, Joel wears a black dragon skin with his brown eyes and a green underbelly. He has green horns, and green streaked hands and feet.

As a Thunderborn, Joel's skin looks like Marvel's version of Thor.

As a Lepus, Joel's skin is a brown rabbit with white ears.

As a Fairyborn, Joel’s skin is based off of Cosmo from the show Fairly Oddparents.

As a Forestborn, Joel’s skin is himself, dressed as a hippie, with longer hair and flowers in his hair.

First Origin: Blazeborn[]

Late descendants of the Blaze, the Blazeborn are naturally immune to the perils of the Nether.

Origin Powers

  • Fire Immunity — Blazeborn are immune to all types of fire damage.
  • Burning Wrath — When on fire, Blazeborn deal additional damage with your attacks.
  • Hotblooded — Due to their hot bodies, venom burns up, making Blazeborn immune to poison and hunger status effects.
  • Nether Inhabitant — Blazeborn naturally spawn in the Nether.
  • Hydrophobia — Blazeborn receive damage over time while in contact with water.

Second Origin: Giant[]

The Giants are an ancient race, becoming quite a rare sight in modern times. Their history remains unknown, with few left to keep it alive.

Origin Powers

  • Super Sized — Giants are twice as tall as Humans, at 4 blocks tall.
  • Huge Heart — Giants have twice the health of Humans.
  • Massive Stomach — Giants lose hunger 50% faster.
  • Gargantuan Strength — Giants deal 33% more damage and 50% more knockback.
  • Long Limbs — Giants have twice the normal jump height and 33% more reach.
  • Extremely Sturdy — Giants take 50% less fall damage, 33% less knockback, mine 50% faster and do not slip on ice.
  • Unwieldy Arms — Giants attack 33% slower than most others.
  • Excessive Power — Bows and crossbows break upon use.
  • Giant Heritage — Leather armour gives Giants the same protection as Iron armour.
  • Cumbersome — Giants are unaffected by levitation, but also incapable of using Elytra or Riptide Tridents.
  • Oversized Lungs — Giants have twice the oxygen, so can hold their breathe longer underwater.
  • Heavy — Giants cannot float in water, and cannot ride animals or vehicles.
  • Colossal Slam — Giants have the ability to slam into the ground, creating a small explosion.
  • Arachnophobe — Giants take thrice the damage from any mob affected by Bane of Arthropods.
  • Gigantic Bed — Giants require a larger bed; 4 beds in a 2x2 placement.
  • Piggyback — Any non-giant can ride a Giant's shoulders, and are thrown off when Slamming.

Third Origin: Iceling[]

Icelings are an evolved form of Inchlings.

Origin Powers

  • Smol — Icelings are immune to some common dangers due to their small size.
  • Climbing — Icelings are able to climb up any kind of wall, not just ladders.
  • Smaller Less Need for Food — As they're smaller, Icelings need less food.
  • Inchling Size — Icelings are inch sized... but with less health!
  • Blue Transparent Skin — Since Icelings are made of ice, they're blue and transparent!
  • Cold Buff — Icelings are buffed in cold biomes.
  • Pyrophobia — Icelings take 2x more fire damage.
  • Frosty Touch — Icelings are able to collect snow with their bare hands.
  • Heat Exhaustion — Their body doesn't like warm environments, which make Icelings lose hunger faster when in warm biomes like deserts or the Nether.
  • Water Breath — Icelings have permanent water breathing due to their lack of a nose!
  • Fragile — Icelings have 3 less hearts of health than humans.
  • Brittle Bones — Icelings take more damage from falling and flying into blocks.
  • Need for Mobility — Icelings can not wear any heavy armor (armor with protection values higher than chainmail).

Fourth Origin: Wyverian[]

Wyverians are descendants of the powerful dragon called the Wyvern.

Origin Powers

  • Venomous — Wyverians can breath out large clouds of poison.
  • Hotblooded — Wyverians are immune to poison.
  • Winged — Wyverians have a large pair of feathered wings.
  • Claws — Wyverians have large powerful claws, allowing them to deal more damage to enemies.
  • Gift of Flight — Wyverians can use their large wings to flap every few seconds!
  • Nocturnal — Wyverians have night vision allowing them to see in the dark.
  • Carnivorous — Wyverians are carnivores, meaning they can only eat meat.
  • Heavy Wings — Their wings get heavier when they're wet, causing Wyverians to get weakness and slowness in water.
  • Height — Similar to most other dragons, Wyverians are taller than others.
  • Weak Arms — Because they are descendants of Wyverns, Wyverians have weaker arms. They cannot hold a shield.

Fifth Origin: Thunderborn[]

Born in the clouds, Thunderborns were made from lightning.

Origin Powers

  • Charged Weapons — Thunderborns deal extra damage to everything.
  • Plasma Bolt — Thunderborns can blast a solar flare from the sky at their opponents.
  • Hotter Than Flames — Thunderborns are immune to fire damage.
  • Paranoia — Thunderborns are extremely paranoid when out in the night sky.
  • Hydrophobia — Thunderborns receive damage over time while in contact with water.
  • Storm Speed — Thunderborns move faster while in storms. If it is also nighttime, their effects will cancel out.

Sixth Origin: Lepus[]

An evolutionary branch of common rabbits, the Lepus love to explore and scavenge lost ruins for loot.

Origin Powers

  • Leap — Lepuses can do a hefty leap that launches them up and forward.
  • Bunny-Hop — A Lepus' natural jump is two blocks high, but it is unaffected while sprinting or sneaking.
  • Lucky Foot — A Lepus' odds of receiving better loot from chests and fishing are highly increased than humans.
  • ...but at what cost? — Lepuses have seven hearts of health, which just so happens to be their lucky number. How fortunate!
  • Lucky Strike — A Lepus' melee hits have a 1 out of 7 chance to deal 2x damage.
  • Acrobatics — Lepuses never take fall damage, no matter from which height they fall from.
  • Energetic — Lepuses are considerably faster when above 7 full hunger bars.
  • Vegetarian+ — Lepuses can't eat meat, but all other foods give them increased saturation.
  • Forager — Breaking grass with hoes has a small chance to give Lepuses carrots or potatoes.
  • Golden Vision — Eating Golden Carrots lets Lepuses see in the dark for a little while.
  • Bundles — Lepuses can craft Bundles out of 6 rabbit hides and 2 string.
  • Hide — Lepuses can make rabbit hides out of leather.

Seventh Origin: Fairyborn[]

Fairyborns are small mythical creatures that were born to help others.

Origin Powers

  • Fairy Wings — Fairyborns can fly!
  • Cold Blooded — Their small body can't generate much heat, so Fairyborns die slowly in cold biomes.
  • Air Affinity — Fairyborns may break blocks in the air as others do on land.
  • Vulnerable — A Fairyborn's small body can't take a lot of damage.
  • Weak Body — A Fairyborn's body is too weak to wear armor that's too heavy.
  • Flight — Their wings allow Fairyborns to fly.
  • Descend — Fairyborns can use their wings to fall slower and they don't take fall damage.
  • Smol — Fairies are really small so Fairyborns are too. :)
  • Honey Lover — Fairies love honey so Fairyborns get more food and saturation from it.
  • Healing Magic — Fairyborns can make a circle of healing around them that gives them regeneration.

Eighth Origin: Forestborn[]

A relative of blazeborns, Forestborns have fallen in love with the mysteries of nature.

Origin Powers

  • Poison Dart — Forestborns are able to wield the poison of the trees to protect themselves. The effects will last for 10 seconds.
  • Float — As a relative of Blazeborns, Forestborns have the ability to float in the air for 10 seconds.
  • Nature's Support — Nature will pick the best carrots in the world and bring them to Forestborns when needed. Perhaps this way, others won't destroy them with their axes.
  • Save Wood — In order to save wood, Forestborns have developed a new way to make a portable crafting table. No more wood on crafting tables!
  • Grass Support — Grass pushes supports Forestborns and makes them faster and stronger while in their territory.
  • Green Skin — Their love for nature made Forestborns green as well.
  • Need Nutrients — Forestborns cannot live in a place without nutrients. They take damage in the desert.
  • Less Hearts — Because they were treated by nature so nicely, Forestborns haven't needed to develop any immunity, meaning they have less hearts than an average player.
  • Hate Axes — Seeing theur trees die in the hands of axes made Forestborns vulnerable to axes as well. They take 10 more damage from iron, gold, diamond, and netherite axes.

Ninth Origin: Gravital[]

Gravitals use gravitational forces to push and pull their foes around the battlefield!

Origin Powers

  • Polarizing Shift — It allows Gravitals to send enemies flying away from them or towards them, depending on their polarity.
  • Gravi Blast — Gravitals send out an invisible blast of Gravi to send them flying either forward or backwards depending on their polarity.
  • Gravi Power — Gravitals have multiple increased stats due to their gravi-control.
  • Gravi Mass — Gravitals weigh less overall so some of their stats have changed.
  • Wrong Shift — Gravitals may botch a blast that will end up flinging themselves right into a desert.
  • Adverse Polarity — Gravitals are magnetic by nature so they have a problem with wearable iron items.
  • Gravity — Gravitals are constantly pressed on by gravity, making them vulnerable to attacks.

Tenth Origin: Half-Robot[]

Beep. Boop.

Origin Powers

  • Steel Skin — Half-robots' steel skin gives them the feel of a robot and solid metal comes through their blood to become electricity.
  • Laser — Half-robots can shoot a laser that withers people.
  • Effect Immune — Half-robots are not vulnerable to many detrimental potion effects.
  • More Health — Due to their steel metal skin, half-robots have 5 more hearts of health.
  • Strong Arms — Half-robots can break natural stone much faster thanks to their metal fists.
  • Heavy — Half-robots' iron skin strengthens them but slows them down at the same time.
  • Water Breather — Half-robots are part robot so they don't need any oxygen.
  • Unexhausted — Because they are a robot, half-robots won't get exhausted.
  • No Regen — Half-robots will not regenerate any health until they get a regeneration effect.
  • Self Regeneration — Half-robots can activate self regeneration if they don't have enough health.
  • Boiling — Half-robots will overheat in high temperatures.
  • Overheat — A half-robot's player overheats because they're a robot, meaning they take 2 times more fire and lava damage.

Trivia[]

  • Joel is the very first member to be eliminated from the Afterlife SMP server. He died on his last life on June 4, 2022.
